Global English In-Person / Online
Global English is a series of workshops designed to help you improve your spoken and written English, both in everyday terms and in your academic work.
Join Dr Paul Brewer in a series of 6 interactive workshops to practise and develop your speaking and writing skills for studying in the UK.
These sessions take place via Teams and in person

- Life in the UK (February 7) - Introduction to English Language use in cross cultural situations.
- Formal and informal English (February 14). Formal and informal vocabulary and when to use these different types of English.
- Writing in English (February 21) - a closer look at written English in academic settings. Improve your writing for Essays and brush up your writing for professional purposes, including email and letter writing.
- Presentations (February 28) - increasingly presentations are becoming key to demonstrating your knowledge and skills in a particular subject. This session will focus on academic presentations, helping you to develop strategies for speaking in formal settings.
- Grammar Part 1 (March 7) - Exploring typical structures for academic writing - tense and aspect; voice (active/passive); Strategies for self-improvement and practice.
- Grammar Part 2 (March 14) - Exploring typical structures for academic writing - articles, prepositions. Strategies for self-improvement and practice.
