Global English In-Person
Global English is a series of workshops designed to help you improve your spoken and written English, in everyday use and in your academic work.
Join Dr Paul Brewer in a series of 6 interactive workshops to practise and develop your speaking and writing skills for studying in a friendly, welcoming environment. These sessions take place in Stockwell Street Library, in the Academic Skills Hub on the First Floor.

- Life in the UK (Friday 24th October) - Introduction to English Language use in cross cultural situations.
- Formal and informal English (Friday 31st October). Formal and informal vocabulary and when to use these different types of English.
- Writing in English (Friday 7th November) - a closer look at written English in academic settings. Improve your writing for Essays and brush up your writing for professional purposes, including email and letter writing.
- Presentations (Friday 14th November) - increasingly presentations are becoming key to demonstrating your knowledge and skills. This session will focus on academic presentations, helping you to develop strategies for speaking in formal settings.
- Grammar Part 1 (Friday 21st November) - Exploring typical structures for academic writing - tense and aspect; voice (active/passive); Strategies for self-improvement and practice.
- Grammar Part 2 (Friday 28th November) - Exploring typical structures for academic writing - articles, prepositions. Strategies for self-improvement and practice.
