Integrity Matters: Building Good Academic Practice
This workshop explores the principles and values that underpin academic integrity, including honesty, trust, fairness, respect, responsibility and courage. Students will develop their understanding of how these principles apply to assessment, academic writing and the use of emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Students will explore:

How AI can be used responsibly to support learning
- When and how its use should be declared

How to complete an AI Reflection (AIR)

University regulations and expectations

The importance of producing authentic work
Through practical examples and application of assessment-focused discussions, students will consider the difference between ethical and inappropriate use of AI, as well as the potential consequences of academic misconduct, including referral to an Academic Offences Panel (AOP).
By the end of the workshop, students will have a clearer understanding of their responsibilities as members of the academic community and will be equipped to make informed, ethical and transparent decisions when completing their assessments.
